about

The past three years have given me both the hardest and most amazing experiences of my life. Since 2020, I lost two of my grandmothers, my cousin, and my niece. These losses drastically changed dynamics within my family which caused a fair share of turmoil. I started writing this album in January of 2020 and planned to release it by Spring of 2021. Unfortunately, life had other plans which forced me to keep pushing the release date back. There was a point in time where I thought I would never put this out, but luckily that day has come.

I decided to call the album Prime Real Estate because I felt like I was making a lane for myself beyond the Pittsburgh music scene, and I wanted to let people know that I was here to stay. While the last few years brought a lot of pain, it also brought a lot of joy. I bought a house, started a new job, got married, and created bonds that will last a lifetime. These celebratory moments made the tougher parts easier to bear.

The album title soon earned a new meaning. I wanted to show the beauty that comes after the pain. How moments and memories can make us appreciative of what we had and what we have. The album cover was shot in front of my grandmother’s old house in Hazelwood. She lost this house to the city when I was about five years old, but I still have memories of being there everyday after school.

Her loss was the start of the pain my family experienced in 2020, but her legacy is the start of the person I became. Having my wife, mom, sister, uncle, and aunt on the album cover represents how important it is to be connected with your people whether celebrating success or mourning the loss of a loved one. The house may not look like it once did, but it’s still standing.

Thank you to Clay and Cole McCluskey of Hounds for preparing all the creative assets. Big shoutout to Big Jerm for providing me with the canvas to tell my story. This is not a sad album by any means. Please turn up, start a mosh pit, roll the windows down and blast it at high volume. However you choose to enjoy is fine by me. Thank you for listening.

This is Prime Real Estate.
